busy busy

BUSY WEEK!
I feel like I've been running around all week busy with training and lots of other fun things!! I get so caught up in the routine that I forget to take pics and blog and break out into spontaneous dance parties with the girls.
Anyway, the three of us are chilling in Canmore by the fire as the rain continues to POUR.
It was another sweet week of training and things are always progressing on every level! We had our weekly Canmore session today in the rain, balancing and laughing and challenging each other. It was fun!
And, speaking of rain, we decided to go cheer on the Calgary Stampeder's in the rain, during the Stanley Cup Final! We were like the hardcore fans!!  But not.  Anyway we left pretty early but it was still cool to check it out!

AND yesterday the Calgary Sport's Centre set up another of Marcel's amazing cooking sessions at The Paintbox Lodge in Canmore!  The Paintbox Lodge is the bed and breakfast that Thomas Grandi and Sarah Renner own and run! Its an awesome place with an amazing kitchen where got to make YUMMY food.

For Lunch, we all had soup, lasagna and a burger!! It was all so tasty that being full was not an option.
 Thanks Marcel and Cara!!
 Telling us how it's done.
 Tasting the final product!
Beautiful Miele kitchen...... my dream
MP and I have invaded Mitch's place in Canmore for the weekend so that we can play around in Canmore!! I'll try and take more pics and have more dance parties!!!

glistening workouts.

Today was BOXING DAY. But not the one after Christmas.. ahahaha. not. that was not funny.
anyway, we boxed in the afternoon for dryland...
Our warmup is pretty intense on it's own, I'm already glistening (because girls don't sweat) before even getting my gloves on!
OK NOW I'm READY!!!! rrrraawwwrrrrrr. watch yourself.
 knocked out? Or just plank......
 Maddy vs. Matt!
 Practicing our uppercut's and whatnot.
 MITCH vs. Matt.
The best way to finish off a LONG workout day such as today, is to hit up the streets on my SNAZZY NISHIKI Colorado cruiser......
Get frozen yogurt at Spoon Me. (and a free t-shirt for being their 100th follower on twitter (no big deal))
And then do sweet tricks the whole way home!

PLANKING: the Calgary edition.

It's been a bit of a slow weekend so Maddy and I decided to ramp it up, get dressed up, and hit the streets of Calgary for some photo-ops.
MORPH SUIT!!!
Maddy was a power-ranger on rollerblades and i was a powerpuff girl with cowboy boots on a bike.
Getting geared up.
Warm up golf practice- pre photo-shoot
 Ok, I think we're ready.
Morph suits are not breathable apparently!!
NO PLANKING ZONE.  I risked towage for this picture. Rebel Plank.

 Rollerblade-biking-morph-suited amazingness.

Balancing in Canmore....and biking up Highwood Pass

Yesterday we all met up in Canmore for a workout and some balance training at the Nordic Centre.
There's a cool balancing "park" out in the woods with a bunch of different obstacles where we all play, compete not to fall off, and attempt to conquer!
Maddy! Pro Slackliner!
Me! Single legged squatting on pieces of wood sticking out of the ground. (that's just half the squat!! don't worry!!)

Mitch is the tightrope Queen.  She's undefeated so far!
 I'm still a beginner....
 uh oh!!!!!
ok I think i got this...
Good times. Everyone's trying different things and getting better every week!
After an amazingly yummy Buddha Bowl and Communitea for lunch in Canmore, I met up with Emily and Jenny for a bike ride up Highwood Pass.  I was 17km of uphill!!  The sweet thing about this ride is that the road is still closed until next week, so you can dilly dally all over the place and not worry about getting hit by cars.... just gotta keep an eye out for bears and mountain goats...
 JEnny!!!!! And a huge mountain.
Mountain Goat (or Sheep?) obstacles...... MOVE!
Amazing timed photo posing.....WE MADE IT!!!! yay!
The last little push until the end.
 pros.
 snow queens.
and then RIPPING down!! Em said we got to 72km/hour.  That seems pretty cool.
looooooooong road. and a flat. :(
The ride was awesome and we celebrated with dinner on a Patio back in "Mission" with oysters, lobster nachos and a little piece of chocolate cake! And then it rained for a minute so I wore a blanket.
good story.

Last Day of Moab! Porcupine Rim Trail!! YEAH!

We saved the best for last.  Porcupine Rim!! About 3 hours of SWEEEEEET downhillin'!
I love this trail, I love riding things that I never thought I could ride, and I love going FAST!
This was just the mellow beginning, taking a farm-road to link up with the single track along the rim of the Mesa.  I saw this ghetto truck paired with the amazing background of different Mesas in the distance and stopped to take a picture.
 And had to pose, obviously!!!
 Breathtaking views the whole way.
 PLANK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Less ridiculous, but still somewhat ridiculous posing.
 Marco's EXTREME posing.
Stopped part-way down for MY FAVOURITE FOOD EVER: cheese and crackers and salami. YUMMMMMMMy.  And how can you beat this lunch stop view?!
 :)
 EXTREME biking!! haha!
 And Extremely HOT temps.
Our 3 days in Moab were awesome.
The bike riding, swimming, hiking, camping, star gazing, fire-chilling....
Couldn't have asked for a better little break!  Now I'm back in Calgary where the temperature is WAY lower and my tan is already starting to fade!!
Luckily, I'm heading back to Velodrome tonight! I like it!  Can't stay off a bike for tooooo long!
