Climbing, paddle boarding, and lots of fun visitors!

Another awesome week of old and new activities has flown by!  Chelsea visited, Rena visited, my parents are visiting and it's been fun to show everyone all the fun things to do around here!
Before all of the visits, Marco, Emily and I biked up behind Spooner Summit towards Highlands peak or something???  Anyway, long ride, beautiful view!! No fancy cameras for such long bike rides, but the view of Tahoe from up there was one of the best!
Apart from becoming a yogi, I've also been trying new activities!  Thanks to Emily and Michelle I got to break in some of my "new" climbing gear up on Donner Summit.  It was challenging but FUN!
Em was showing us how it's done.
Looking back down onto Donner Lake
 Michelle rocking some sweet moves!
And another new activity was paddle boarding!! We got together with a crew (including my parents) and SUP'd on Tahoe yesterday morning.  It was beautiful and amazing.  Looking down into the clear clear blue water gives me greater appreciation for Tahoe and it's beauty.
Our SUP team!! Thanks Ana and Paul for being the photographers!

 Megan and the puppy!
 Jesse and the puppieS!  Yeah!
 woohoo!
Thanks so much to Anik and Jay for letting us play and sip delicious coffee at their amazing paddle board, coffee and all other water sports haven Waterman's Landing.
 Group shot!!

But seriously, check out Waterman's Landing if you are ever in Tahoe!!!!

loving truckee summer

We've been so busy lately doing as many sports as possible: mountain biking tons, jogging along the river, golf, hiking, and some slack-lining!!  It's been awesome knowing that we have lots of time to enjoy Truckee this summer!
One thing I am trying to take more time doing is COOKING.  This recipe is AMAZING, and doesn't really involve a lot of cooking.  It's quite similar to the Buddha Bowl at Communitea in Canmore  (which I am obsessed with) but the recipe I have is from Em Brydon out of her copy of Whitewater Cooks.  I have one of their other cookbooks and it's amazing.
ANyway if you are looking for a super yummy healthy salad here it is!!
I forgot to add that I actually I only use 1/3 cup of Olive Oil... NOT 1 1/2 CUPS OF VEG OIL. ew.  not needed.
Otherwise here's some pics from our adventures around Truckee this week:
4 dollar golf round at Ponderosa golf course because of their 50th anniversary!
Rockin the pink clubs, pink hat and pink shoes!

Hiking up Shirley Canyon, checking out the hollowed out by fire trees.  According to something I just googled on the internet this is what they are called: Goose Pens are where the base of a redwood has been hollowed out by fire, but the top of the tree is still thriving.  These openings are so large that, in earlier days, settlers in the West could corral their livestock in them, thus giving the goosepens their name.

very cool!! I wonder who and when this one was made hollow.
climbing up and up and up, out of the forest and into the vast rock landscape.
made it up to Shirley Lake and we were surprised to see that it was still half frozen!

 MARCO WENT IN.
look of SHOCK at how cold the frozen lake was.
 reflections
maybe this summer I will finally conquer this thing?!?!?!
still a few months to practice....
 pro
and there was the eclipse.  I have no clue how people get pics of it... but the reflections in my lens showed it!! So at least I can see that it happened... ha
that's all!

BBQ season!!

It's officially bbq season.  In the past week I've hit up more barbecues than I've been at home! It's been awesome!   And the best part is that I was able to bbq with MY "ski sisters" from last season!  I had to be in Canmore for the week and I got to catch up with all the ski team girls.

shona, erin, mpp, mitch and britt! The CANMORE crew!

 and me!
it was great to see the girls again!!
My reason for being in town was to complete my "coaching level 2" courses.  I learned how to set slalom, some good coaching techniques, and got to ski a ton in some amazing weather!! It was sweet.
And then I got to see the CALGARY crew for some volleyball and more bbq-ing!! what could be better!!?!? Fun times with the girls!
It was an awesome week and Shona and I got a lot accomplished for our SKI SISTERS CAMP!
I've also been working on some sweet footage for the ski sisters blog including this weeks latest "what I know now that I wish I knew then" by three time Olympian and two time Olympic medalist Shannon Bahrke! wooohooo! she is the coolest!
