Shona, Andrew and I canoed from Banff to Canmore... a four hour river trip with great views, great snacks, and great friends.
And great techniques.
The great views...... Andrew, aka pro tour guide, was nice enough to spin us around periodically and give us some 360 views of the beautiful Albertan countryside!
pose.
ahhhhh loving the weekend and the SUNSHINE!!!
An awesome weekend full of fun and laughs.  The pouring rain this morning didn't even dampen my mood after such goody goody goodtimesssssssssss! haha. like mon blogue.

I've been hanging out in Canmore this weekend with Shona, and we decided to go on a HIKE!  The girls joined us and we started what would be an intense and epic journey STRAIGHT up this mountain...
Our first pause for pics!! Mitch and MP Jumpin!
Britt was bored of hiking so she tried some new techniques.......
The rest of us were bored of hiking so we did a sextuplet down dog. Pure talent. Mitch, Britt, Erin, Eve, MP, moi.
We FINALLY made it to the top and enjoyed the view!! Looking down on Fortress ski area?
Britt checkin the views....
Happy picnickers! Our spot on top of the ridge for lunch.

MP, Erin, Even and Shona with the SWEETEST backdrop Evaaaa.
The descent...not so sweet. alllll the way down to that road.....
I took it slow and steady.....about 45 minutes slower than the rest!
Looking back up at where we were.... impressive!!?

workout posers

Mitch had a serious craving for some scones yesterday, so she bought some flour, yogourt, baking powder, milk, sugar and blueberries and handed me these ingredients and asked if I could make some scones!! I had no clue as to how a scone is made, but I mixed approximately:
  • 4 cups spelt flour
  • 3 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 cup yogourt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup blueberries
And mixed it all together into a sticky mess, stuck them in the oven at 400C and waited 20 minutes until voila! Scones.  And they taste pretty good too! (healthy good...)

They're a healthy good snack for hard workouts like this!!
Single leg squatting on my rehab knee! no big deal...
Kelly and I working on our flexion!!!  She is a pro!
Mitch and I doing an awkward double pull up.... totally posed and totally hilarious!
And the three of us and our scars.  Each scar has it's own story and each one is healing up better than ever!!
WATCH OUT world!
We are about to head out for "fuel for gold," a program that the Calgary Sports Centre set up for athletes to have healthy affordable meals!  Aurelio the chef has a healthy plate of food for use everyday at lunch for just 5.25$!  yummy yummy

And then I made a poster!  What do you think?? My photoshop skillz are a little ghetto, but I'm trying to switch it up a bit and not just have a pic of me skiing....

sweating in calgary

A couple of random dry-land balance shots....
We've been so busy working out that there's no more time for posing!! ha!
So far this week has been great!  We've done a bunch of weight-lifting, balance, agility, boxing, swimming, running, biking, meditating...etc.  Busy and fun!
Boxing was surprisingly FUN and super challenging!! A great way to get your heart-rate up for an hour without even realizing it!  I'll try to take some more pictures this week of our sweet new SKILLZzz.
We are back in the gym again tomorrow for some agility, balance and core.... followed by an afternoon of INTENSE BIKING!
We have all been really busy and focused on this camp, but I would like to mention that my retired/bff/missing her a bunch/amazing skier/fellow BLOGGER Shona Rubens just started her blog which will follow her CRAZY van-venture (I made that up...) driving from Alaska to Ushuaia (Argentina) with her boyfriend Andrew throughout all of next year!  I am already excited to be following her blog and anticipating her future adventures!! check it OUT! http://kumulife.blogspot.com/

They choreographed a beautiful routine just for me!
And the flowers...
And the buds...
A successful after dinner adventure!
A demain!

Aurevoir Tremblant, Hello Calgary.

I reluctantly left the beauty of Tremblant and it's surroundings on Sunday to come here, to Calgary for some team training!!! It's perfect timing as my knee is getting a lot stronger and I've been missing my teammates!! Team camps always get me amped up to train and focus and get STRONGER to ski faster!!  It's always nice to reunite with the girls during the summer and have a group to train with and push each other to get stronger (extra reps, more weights, extra laps!!!), the same way we push each other on the hill to ski faster.
On Sunday my dad and I explored a road biking route that we hadn't done in 4 years!! Lot's of hills that totally kicked my butt!! It was a weird gloomy day, but great views, vivid colours, and the perfect temperature for biking... Tremblant from a distance...and an Inukshuk.
I left my mark on the Inukshuk! Or Cairn I guess....?? Does an Inukshuk represent a human form and is a cairn just a marker?? Either way, this thing isn't guiding anyone anywhere, and it doesn't look like a human... SO I added MY rock to this pile of rocks.
And now it's back to work!! I couldn't participate in the jumps yet so I just took action shots of the girls... Other than not jumping, I've been able to do pretty much everything else in the program!
I'm excited for the next two weeks of INTENSE training!!! Tomorrow we have boxing!! Maybe I will try to make some montages or something.

Happy Three Months!

Happy Friday and happy three month post-operation!  Three months ago today I went under the knife to get my sweet new ACL thanks to doctor Litchfield! So I celebrated with breakfast in the sun this morning on the rock overlooking Lake Tremblant.  My happy place.
I am half way to getting back on snow!  Thanks to everyone who has helped me get to this point!  Most importantly my family who have been there the whole way through icing, bending, straightening, limping, walking, laughing, crying, cooking, baking, biking, running!!!!  A huge thanks to coffee.  And OF COURSE the doctors: dr. litchfield, dr. irving; and the physios: Kent, Diane, Gen, Ladd and Stef.   Marco and all the Truckee friends and family, thank you for welcoming me to California and for making me laugh and taking me on adventures for the past month!
As I sipped my (second) morning coffee and looked out over the lake and the mountains all I could think about is how lucky I am to be living this life and pursuing this dream... it won't last forever but I will try to take full advantage of it!

Bruce Lee inspiration.

I saw this inspirational Bruce Lee story today and thought I would share it.  I feel like this is a good reminder to not let your mind decide what your limits are, but to continue to try to push yourself with an open mind and body to go as far as you can go.  Since tearing my knee and having all this rehab to do, the little things that nag at the back of my mind thinking that maybe I can't yet do certain things are what hold me back. A week ago I didn't think I could jog, but I was so bored of walking on the treadmill that I left Marco's house and came back twenty minutes later with the biggest smile on my face!  I could probably walk faster than I was jogging, BUT I was still out there in the fresh air doing something new!  The next time I went I got to 35 minutes, and I just got back from a 45 minute jog.  Each time feeling better, and stronger, and more confident that my knee can do more than I "think".  I met up with MP and Britt yesterday to workout together, and I again surprised myself by just trying things and not doubting myself and my knee.  No doubts+ no hesitation= lots of confidence! I have been getting my full flexion almost everyday since a week ago when I didn't even know it was possible for me to get there!! (thanks Ladd!!!)  And the same story with road biking, mountain biking, weight lifting etc.!  As long as I feel solid and have no pain, the sky is the limit!! There are times when I definitely can't do certain things because of my knee, and I am following the "acl protocol", but once I am in the clear from my physio's to do something new, it's really exciting for me to realize and experience my knee slowly getting stronger and back to normal.   Although these are "baby steps", to me they feel like MILES! yay!
So, here's to a summer with no limits and levels exceeded! Bruce Lee style!  But less aggressive. haha. (i am for sure not trying to live up to a 5 minute mile or anything, but by taking steps in the right direction and pushing my body beyond where my mind thinks it can go seems like a pretty cool goal for the summer.)  Next time I am complaining about being too hot or too tired on a mountain bike ride I will think of Bruce Lee.
